|Anchor berths and anchorage areas - October 2014||
This layer shows the anchorages that have been designated and where a harbour / port authority may request a vessel to anchor. A vessel may also anchor anywhere as directed by a harbour / port authority when within their jurisdiction.
For the main ports, Marine Scotland has confirmed the data with the relevant harbour / port authority. This dataset contains licenced data from OceanWise.

There are a choice of nine base layers available on NMPi. These are designed to give locational context to both terrestrial and marine data. This base layer displays Open Street Map with Raster Charts XL from OceanWise. These maps are supplied by a Web Map Tile Service (WMTS) and are maintained by the separate data originators
|Defence (Military) - Military exercise areas and danger areas (PEXAs) - December 2014||
The Ministry of Defence uses Scotland's coasts and seas. The coasts are mainly used for training and locating bases. The seas, while also used for training, are important for test and evaluation activities as well as surveillance and monitoring of potential threats, and for combating these threats. This layer displays the areas of Scottish seas which are actively in use by the MOD. The dataset shows only those areas within Scottish waters and is derived from data licensed from OceanWise, corroborated by the Minstry of Defence.
|Defence (Military) - Historic munitions disposal sites - January 2015||
Approximate locations where chemical and conventional/explosive munitions were disposed at sea. As some data is derived from historical records, coordinates may be inaccurate. The location of phase 4 chemical disposal sites are unconfirmed. Includes licensed data from OceanWise and data digitised from OSPAR, Imperial College London, and Ministry of Defence reports.
|Historic cable infrastructure (sections may remain on seabed)||
This layer shows old / residual cable infrastructure “now out of use“ where possible telecommunications or power cable remnants may remain on the seabed. It is derived from charted data, Ocean Wise and UKHO s57 data, to identify cables routes where there may be some remnant on the seabed, cross-checked with the Subsea Cables UK data set managed by the Sea Fish Industry Authority (KIS – ORCA data set) to ensure that current (in use) cables are excluded.
|Navigation channels (Recommended Routes and Fairways) - October 2014||
This layer shows the navigational channels, fairways and buoyed areas around / within ports that are used for the purposes of guiding shipping movements. Ships may also be seen outwith these areas if there is sufficient water depth. Fairways are that part of a river, harbour and so on, where the main navigable channel for vessels of larger size lies. It is also the usual course followed by vessels entering or leaving harbours, called ‘ship channel’ (as defined in the International Hydrographic Organisation).

|Sites and vessels designated under the Protection of Military Remains Act 1986 ("war graves") - protected wrecks - July 2017||
The Protection of Military Remains Act 1986 deals with wrecks of both aircraft and ships, and all military aircraft are automatically protected under this legislation. This dataset show the locations of protected places and controlled sites designated under The Protection of Military Remains Act 1986 (Designation of Vessels and Controlled Sites) Order 2017. Commonly called "war graves", they are more correctly referred to as "military maritime graves".
