Fishing - managed areas
The various layers show areas which are subject to fishing restrictions or closures (either all year or seasonal) for one of a number of reasons: closed to all fishing; species restrictions; gear restrictions (static and mobile); vessel size / capacity restrictions.
One layer also shows areas between the 6 and 12 mile fishing limit where certain countries have historical access rights for certain species. The layers do not include details about fishery management measures based on % of catch.
Updated February 2016 to include MPA management and changes to EU legislation.
Updated graphs to show the tonnage and value of the catch in Scotland's seas (as found in Scotland’s Marine Atlas) can be accessed in the ‘Data Sources’ tab at the bottom of the page.
