E. Recent NMPI technical changes / enhancements

There have been some changes to the functionality made recently.

  • Layer context menu is now available under an ellipsis button as well as right-click on the layer name

  • Layer names in the layer control are now truncated when the window is too small to accommodate them, full name appears in tooltip when hovering.

  • Users can add a 3rd Party WMS layer from a new ‘Add 3rd party WMS Layer’ button within the Layer Control dialogue. On clicking on the button a new ‘Add 3rd party WMS Layer’ dialogue box opens.  The associated Marine Scotland Information page http://marine.gov.scot/maps/map-services will be populated with suggested marine related WMS urls. Users can access this page by clicking on the ‘?’ ‘Click for suggested services’.  Follow the instructions in the dialogue box. If the WMS supports querying in a format that NMPI can handle, features can be queried on the map like other layers.

  • Once the 3rd party WMS is linked, users can select from the drop down menus and then click ‘Add Layer’. See example in screen shot
