Aquaculture Locational Guidance: A collection of spatial data resources to assist planning and siting of aquaculture developments

Project Dates:
October, 2015
Project Summary:

This page will be used to share outputs from work to try to define the most suitable areas for the expansion of fish and shellfish farming in Scottish waters.

Many existing spatial data present on Marine Scotland’s information portals are relevant to the planning, licensing and siting of aquaculture facilities and are presented here. In addition, a number of new spatial data resources of potential use for aquaculture siting have been generated as part of a collaborative project together with the then Crown Estate and are presented here.

Work to combine these layers (weighted according to their level of interaction with potential aquaculture facilities) will be presented here as the results become available from the project.
