Creel Fishing Effort Study

What is it: 

Measuring fishing effort is important for assessing the environmental sustainability of fish stocks and the socioeconomic efficiency of fishing activity. Fishing effort describes the amount of fishing gear used on a fishing ground over a given unit of time. Effort in this these map layers is defined as number of creels hauled per day per 4 km².

The Creel Survey Effort report can be found in the data source table below.  Two map layers have been made available to view on Marine Scotland Maps (NMPi) and to download.  These layers cover average number of crab/lobster hauls per cell per day and average number of nephrop hauls per cell per day.  Both can be viewed by following the links in the map table below.
