Intertidal climate change indicators (MarClim) SNH CR939

What is it:

A two-year programme of ecological surveys around the rocky coast of Scotland was completed for Scottish Natural Heritage by the Scottish Association for Marine Science and the Marine Biological Association. The programme revisited and extended the spatial coverage of a set of surveys done between 2002 and 2010, with reference to earlier studies from the 1950s to 1980s.

The aim was to interpret changes in geographical distributions and abundance of species in the context of recent climate (principally temperature) change, on both short- and long-term timescales.

MS Maps NMPi shows 6 layers, based on figures 8, 9 and 10 of SNH Report (see Data Sources tab below) that show:

  1. MarClim - SNH CR939 - Purple topshell, Gibbula umbilicalis (2014-2015) – report figure 8a.
