The order divides United Kingdom territorial waters and waters within areas designated as part of the United Kingdom continental shelf (under the Continental Shelf Act 1964) into English, Scottish and Northern Irish parts to which English, Scottish and Northern Irish civil law is applied respectively, and confers jurisdiction accordingly on the High Court in England and Wales, the Court of Session and the High Court in Northern Ireland.

Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) and Gas Importation and Storage Zone (GISZ) Limits adjacent to Scotland - EEZ Order 2013

The Gas Importation and Storage Zone and the Renewable Energy Zone generally follow the EEZ boundary. Under treaties with Denmark relating to the Faroe Islands the area to the north of the line specified (i.e between the EEZ and the GISZ and REZ) can only be utilised for the purposes of renewable energy and gas storage with the prior consent of Denmark.

12 Nautical Miles (12M) limit - Scottish territorial seas - Territorial Sea Act 1987 / Scotland Act 1998

12 nautical miles (from baselines) is the limit of the Territorial Sea which is that part of the sea adjacent to the coast of a state that is considered to be part of the territory of that state and subject to its sovereignty.
