Salmon and sea trout fishing - Statistical boundaries
What is it:
At the end of each fishing season, the Scottish Government collects catch and effort data from all known salmon and sea trout fisheries and subsequently publishes updated information as Official Statistics. Aggregated statistics are published for Statistical Regions, Fishery Districts or Stock Assessment Areas.
Salmon Stock Assessment Areas (rivers or groups of rivers) are assessed annually and graded according to the status of salmon stocks, to define requirements for the fishing season in the following year.
