Description
Automatic Identification System (AIS) data to indicate the intensity of boating activity in coastal waters around the UK. The values are a log10 taken of the total count of AIS intersections over three summer periods 2011-2013within each 1 x 1 nm cell. They should be referenced on a scale of low to high intensity rather than by the absolute values. These are recorded as polygons. Used under licence from RYA UK Coastal Atlas of Recreational Boating September 2016. Data originally clipped to UK 12NM limit, and further clipped to extend only 12NM beyond Scottish seas.
